TERRIFIC TIPS
FOR
GREAT HEALTH
Many things
contribute to
ill-health and
disease, and
often the root
cause is
stress.
Conflict and
tension at
home can
overflow into
your
workplace, and
these
stressors are
quite common:
relationship
problems,
money issues,
children
issues, and
housing or
environment
issues.
At work,
several
factors can
cause health
issues, think
of your
relationship
with others,
time
pressures, low
capital
reserves to
carry you
through the
hard times,
lack of
training, and
sometimes
over-training
(another
wretched
meeting to go
to!)
Here are my
Health Basics
that you can
adopt which
will help you
to stay
healthy,
reduce your
stress and
help you to be
more motivated
and positive
in everyday
life.
- Eat
regularly.
And eat
healthy
foods. Many
people get
caught up in
day-to-day
life and are
fuelled by
coffee,
snacks,
chocolate
and not much
else. If you
continually
put dirty
fuel in your
car, it
would
perform at
poorer and
poorer
levels until
it gave up
and just
stopped.
Your body is
no
different.
When your
body and
mind are not
provided
with regular
healthy
nourishment,
your blood
sugar levels
will dip and
if they stay
low for too
long, you
may feel
shaky,
slightly
nauseous,
possibly
have a
pounding
heart and
then
interpret
these
feelings
incorrectly,
as anxiety.
It’s
actually
called
hypoglycaemia.
Give up
Caffeine!
Many
people start
the day with
coffee to
kick-start
their tired
adrenal
glands into
action.
Continuous
coffee doses
will cause
problems
with energy,
and
addiction.
If you’re
a big coffee
drinker,
never give
it up cold
turkey. Do
it gradually
over a week
because the
side effects
can give you
headaches,
nausea and
the shakes!
Give up
Sugar!
When
your body
suffers from
the constant
onslaught of
quick hits
from sugar
and coffee,
and
consequently
plunging
blood
sugars, you
can also
experience
irritability
and a fuzzy
mind.
Eat
regularly...
The
solution:
eat 5 small
meals a day
to keep your
blood sugar
levels
stable. As a
bonus, if
you’ve
been trying
to lose
weight,
you will
lose weight
doing it
this
way.
You won’t
be hungry
and your
body will be
able to
relax and
actually
process the
nutrients
instead of
holding onto
them in the
fat cells of
the body. In
effect, your
body will
stop
worrying
about being
starved.
Keep your
colon
clean.
I know that
sounds
hilarious,
but the body
gets toxic
when the
bowel and
colon are
clogged
up. If
you are
constipated
or get diarrhea
often, then

Research out.

What foods
should you
eat?
Good
foods to eat
include high
protein
foods such
as meat,
fish,
chicken,
pork, lamb,
chickpeas
and
lentils.
These
high-protein
foods will
feed and
nourish your
brain with
amino acids,
the
precursors
to
neurotransmitters
(mind
chemicals)
that are
essential
for good
brain
chemistry
and a
positive
outlook.
Those who
suffer
anxiety
and/or
depression
are very low
in
serotonin,
which
requires the
right amino
acids for it
to be
produced. So
simple isn’t
it? Eat well
and feel
better. Of
course, do
eat
vegetables
and fruit as
well.
Unfortunately,
carbohydrates
attempt to
plug those
chemical
inadequacies
and fail
dismally. If
you are a
carb or
alcohol
addict, it’s
highly
likely that
you need
more protein
in your
diet.
Drink
water
Drink at
least 2
litres of
water a day
(more if you
can). Tea,
coffee,
alcohol
while they
are in
liquid form,
do not
constitute
water!

Keep
alcohol
intake to a
minimum
Make sure
that you have
at least 3 or
4 alcohol free
days each
week. This is
common sense
for most
people, but
there are
those who
drink to help
them sleep, to
ease stress
and tension,
and to avoid
feelings. If
this is you,
then go and get
some help
for your
problems.
Move Your
Body!
Exercise
is a wonderful
way to release
the build-up
of all those
stress-filled
chemicals in
your
bloodstream,
as well as to
generate
endorphins ‘the
happy hormones’.
Plus, by
taking care of
your body you
will feel
proud of
yourself and
that generates
more good
feelings.
I’m a great
believer in
doing things
that are fun,
and if they
happen to be
exercise as
well, what a
bonus. So, go
dancing, put
on those
roller-blades,
walk the dog,
go for a bike
ride and guess
what? You’re
exercising!
Of course, if
you suffer
pain, it can
be hard to
exercise, even
though you
know you
should.

Thinking of
exercise as
"I have
to
exercise"
is pretty
heavy.
Thinking
"I’ll
really enjoy
playing touch
footy tonight,
and catching
up with
everyone"
is much
lighter.
Think about
how you think
about exercise
and whether it
is a chore, or
whether the
word exercise
doesn’t even
enter your
mind. After
all,
perception is
all to do with
our attitude
and nothing to
do with our
eyes.

need some inspiration?
Remember
to
breathe!

help with
this, so
that the air
you breathe
is more pure
and
beneficial
to your
whole body.
